Does This Make You, or Anyone Feel Safe?

Face mask, why not sunscreen?

As I sit here, doing some writing at the bar, the Alabama game comes on. I can’t help but to notice that all the coaching staff is wearing face masks while coaching. This isn’t the first time seeing this scenario (select people only wearing a mask).

When I see this protocol, my curiosity sparks; a few questions begin to pop in my head.

-Do the decision makers (the NCAA/TV Networks/etc) requiring such protocol think it’s preventing anything? What goes on when there isn’t a camera broadcasting the game? When a player goes to see a coach in his office, does the coach put his mask on?

It’s obvious the decision makers requiring this are doing it so the portion of our society that cares, observes it and feels/believe that the NCAA/NFL/NBA/etc are doing what they can to be safe. This brings me to my second question:

-Does this protocol make anyone in our society feel safer?

My concern is there are portions of our society that will answer YES to one of these two questions.

I understand the country is concerned about a virus that affects those with weakened immune systems. But why aren’t we worried about ALL the other shit that society/parents/the government allows to go on:

  • Big Pharma that pays our government (Team Purple) so they can continue pushing drugs down our children’s throats before their bodies and mind can learn to adapt to “X”
  • Big Food that pays our government (Team Purple) so they can continue pushing foods that are a cause so MANY of the ailments that our society suffers from
  • Big Tobacco that pays our government (Team Purple) so they can continue pushing tobacco & chemical sticks that cause cancer, while keeping marijuana/psilocybin illegal
  • Big Education that pays our government (Team Purple) so they can continue to push this outdated (system driven) education system that helps our kids start their adult life in debt to the system. A way to get you early [& keep you] under control for the rest of your life.

So please, let me know if you think this is an effective way to keep everyone safe? I’ll also like to know your thoughts on- If the coaching staff wears sunscreen on game day, will it prevent the country getting skin cancer?
