Your Frustration Is Directed Towards The Wrong People

The Bars and Restaurants Don’t Make The Rules, It’s Team Purple; They’re Only Attempting to Stay Open Without Getting Fined.

Below are a list of things I’m still trying to wrap my head around:
-If you don’t serve food, you can’t be open
-You have to order food in order to come have a drink
-No more than 6 people together at a table
-When you walk throughout the establishment, you need a mask; while sitting you don’t
-The Walmart's of the world can be open, but Team Purple restricts small business

Here’s the thing, it’s not the bar/restaurant that’s making these rules; it’s Team Purple. When you go into a bar/restaurant and get pissed because you have to wear a mask or can’t gather with too many people, all that person is doing is attempting to keep their job/employment by abiding to Team Purple’s rules/regulations.

If they get caught breaking Team Purple’s rules, at minimum they get fined and it can get as serious as their liquor license pulled. Both of those are expensive repercussions that can end a small business. No business starts with a goal to shut down, so please have the respect to abide by Team Purple’s Rules so they have a better chance.

While traveling last month, I found myself getting frustrated with a new “protocol” of the bar/restaurant in the Dallas airport. I was told if I wanted to have a drink [at the bar] I would also need to order food from their menu. I knew at the time this was not a rule of theirs, so I agreed even though I had just finished eating lunch. When I get to the bar I’m told again of the rule that I must order a food item from the menu, to which I say, “no problem, I’m aware and I understand”.

Then I snap a picture of the table tent with a QR code that shows me their menu (This is a new thing that is brilliant- for your safety, we have to give us your data by digitally connecting to see our menu). I was happy to find out they had a banana on their menu. I could take the banana with me and eat on the plane. Also it was reasonably priced compared to the $8 side of fries I was expecting to buy, and it has more health benefits for me. What I found out was, ordering a banana does not prevent Covid from spreading; I was forced to order the $8 fries.

Don’t Be A Karen.

So before you get frustrated with the employee or business for the rules that you do not agree to, please remember they don’t make them; they’re just abiding by them so they can live their dream. And, if you care about the success of small business, do your best to not make it even more difficult for them to operate.

Let me know how you feel about all this!
